Govinder Nazran - 1964 - 2008

The very sad news was announced on Monday 5th January by Washington Green Fine Art that contemporary artist Govinder Nazran died on 30th December 2008.

Govinder was at the forefront of contemporary art in the UK for nearly 10 years amassing collectors of his work throughout the world and winning the coveted "Best Selling Published Artist" award from the Fine Art Trade Guild. It is no exaggeration that his quirky paintings of cats and dogs enriched the lives of many collectors and his loss will be felt widely throughout the art world and beyond.

Glyn Washington's comments sum up the nature of the man and why he was so popular with all those who met him:

"2009 would have been our tenth anniversary of working with Govinder, a decade of the most amazing and creative art from one of the most talented, gentle and innovative artists we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family".

It was a pleasure and an honour to have met and worked with Govinder and his legacy will live on in the body of work that he leaves behind.

Messages of condolescence can be sent to "Jo Colley, Washington Green, 44 Upper Gough St., Birmingham B1 1JL" to be passed onto Govinder's family.

'It is often the brightest star that burns for the shortest time'.

2008 has seen the sad loss of a number of our favourite Artists. In addition to Govinder, both the great Beryl Cook & Christian Nesvadba died.

Christians death was particularly tragic due to a fatal automobile accident on Oct 7th at the tender young age of 31 ,he leaves behind a wife & daughter.

He was born in 1977 in Vienna Austria to a family with a rich artistic legacy, his father the talented landscape artist Gerhard Nesvadba was his first teacher. The artist enjoyed travelling and photographing floral arrangements in every combination this served as his inspriration for his masterpieces. Both he & his work will be sadly missed throughout the world.

Christian was considered one of Europe's leading artists , his brilliant eye for colour & texture brought life to canvas, the images that follow were the most recent of his works, please click on each image for further details .
